Ubuntu Developers, read this.

Go fuck yourselves.

I’ve been using Ubuntu for the last 3 years, and I have watched every release since 7.04 get buggier, and buggier, concentrating more on having a flashy “wow” factor to the user interface, rather than actually having good, solid software that works.

I recently made the mistake of upgrading my main machine to Jaunty.  I’ve always used the current release for Ubuntu, and I still to this day, run Debian sid on my media server.  I’ve been around the block, I know how to fix problems when they come up, and I used to get off on the challenge.  Now, I just want something that works.  I don’t have the time to fuck around with backports and proposed updates, just to get my modem to work.  It’s not worth the time.

I give up.

All because you morons decided to compile the usb-serial driver directly into the kernel, instead of as a loadable module, so that my modem would work.

Let’s not even get into the mess that is compiz under your current release with the nVidia drivers for my video card.  Nothing works at all.

I’m buying a MacBook.

  1. I can’t say I have been with the latest Ubuntu releases… the quality of them seems to be going out the window.

I refered Ubuntu to a mate a while back and I have since then withdrawn my recommendation to use it… suggested Debian instead.

The kernel ‘bug’ you mentioned is a fuckup eh? Can’t say I blame you for being cheesed.
